Problems loading canvas sheets on my R1800 2 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Hi, I have huge problems whenever I want to load a sheet of canvas in my printer.
It is a too big hassle to load the canvas straight and sometimes it does not feed through so that the heads crashed on top of the jammed canvas destroying the canvas.

Any idea how to do that more stress less?

I personally havent done that but could you maybe use a light tack to affix it to maybe some paper to give it more stability, just an idea.

You are right, without trick it is a hassle. I print on canvas very regular and never fail to load it and I never waste an inch of the canvas.
Here is the trick i am using.

1. Empty all paper trays and load some sheet of paper (letter or A4 format will do) in the back (roll) tray and let the printer take it in.
2. Then turn the printer off. The printer now thinks a roll is loaded and will not reload anything if you turn the printer on again.
3. Release the 3 screws from the back cover in order to remove the side cover on the left. In other words, the cover opposite of the capping station where the gearing are located.
4. Carefully turn the big gear to feed the paper manually a few inches to the front.
5. now enter your sheet of canvas into the back tray above or under need the paper sheet and manually feed it into the printer. Feed until the canvas is just cover the printer bed and remove then the paper through the front.
6. Turn the printer on. Set your driver to "Velvet Fine Art Paper", Manual Roll, Banner Mode and you are ready to print.

If necessary I can make some pictures for you which makes the procedure visual, just let me know.

This method never fails.

This is great! It took me a while but your description is fine and it works great.
However I was not able to select the Manual Roll but Roll selection works.
If you would place pictures it would help a lot to understand sooner what I was doing but it works after all.

Thanks

OK, for all who are not that familiar with the Epson Stylus Photo R1800 printer and want to print stress less onto art canvas I have placed an easy HowToDo guide with pictures within the FAQ section.

Here is the direct link...

Happy Printing
