How Pretreatments work

Improve Color Vividness and Fastness

FabricFast Ultra
FabricFast™ Ultra Inks
FabricFast™ Ultra Inks are water-based, pigment inks with a binder for textile/fabric printing. These inks are ideal for printing onto untreated cotton, polyester, natural blends, and synthetics silk and wool. They are heat cured; no steaming required! The print reliability remains outstanding without clogging the print heads in any way.

Improved Color VividnessColor densities do not change during or after the curing process; what you see during print is what you get as your final product! Even on untreated cotton and natural fibers the prints have an excellent wash fast rating of 4 out of the scale of possible 5

See the FabricFast press release  so why do we talk about a pretreatment.

Every traditional screen printer will tell us that all pretreated fabrics; equally what dye, fabric and print process is used, will improve the saturation of the inks as well as the wash and crock fastness of the fabric. Digitally textile printing processes are not differently here and every ink and fabric combination can be improved by adding an for that combination specially formulated pre- or post treatment to the print. In case of the Trident's FabricFast™ Ultra Inks we have the Optichem™ pretreatment optional available.

Bottom line is to decide for yourself and from print to print; If you want to be able to print on numerous untreated fabrics then the water based pigments are the only way to go. No hassle with steaming after printing, a good color gamut and very good wash and crock fastness properties. If you need even more you can use occasionally the Optichem™ as a pretreatment in order to get the maximum out of your prints.

Contact us here if you want to have the Optichem™ solution on hand in case you want to use it. This coating application is available in "Spray Bottles", in 1 Liter Bottles or as a "Pasta for screen printing"

Optichem™ Pretreatment provides improvements in print quality comparable to purchased "Ready for Print" fabrics at a considerably lower cost.
