Page 1 of 7 The introduction of solvent ink for digital textile printing a couple of years ago, inkjet printing for outdoor applications were made possible. These systems are very popular in the sign industry as well the T-shirt industry however; popularity is not equal the understanding of features and benefits from the many different types of ink available. In digital textile printing, the term solvent is used to describe any ink that is not water-based. Water-based inks are the most common inks used for digital printing because these are not or little detrimental for people and nature. Almost all inkjet printers in office or at home are using this type of ink. The water is solely used to transport the dye to the media. After printing this water must evaporate and a certain dry time is therefore needed for this type of prints.
