Q: - How reliable is my printer and what do I need to know?

  • Reliability - Print nozzle check patterns from time to time:

test patternsIf you are running your printer for some time now and never printed a nozzle check pattern before then it is now time to start. The nozzle check test can learn you everything about the conditions where your printer is in and is an absolutely "must know" before you are going to modify your printer in any way.

Even if the printer is new, I highly recommend printing as many non-productive patterns you can in the most optimal conditions for your printer and that is with the genuine inks in original cartridges.

Download our test pattern for this purpose to ensure that the whole possible color gamut is represented in the printouts or until the genuine cartridges are empty. Take a couple of days for this and do NOT start modifying your printer in any way before you know everything about the reliability of your printer in particular.

It is simply wrong if you think that every new printer is in the same (good) condition.

  • Warranty - note for professional users.

Printer manufacturers are not responsible for any failures of the unit if not used for the purpose it was manufactured for and this for many good reasons. In general you must call manufacturer's support should your printer prove defective within the warranty period and therefore again: Test your printer on reliability before going to the next step.

Most of us want to use the printer for commercial use. This and the installing of CISS or even the use of refillable cartridges is considered as continuous or high duty production and you will be responsible for any upcoming defects. The warranty usually covers only the normal use, which is the use of original cartridges and genuine inks.

Is this limitation of warranty only for marketing manufacturers own consumables? Not really through...  There are tons of manufacturers of what is called "compatible" cartridges and/or inks and for sure not all reliable as the original. The good thing is there are at least as much enthusing users who have tried them out.  Ask their or our advice to prevent any disappointments.
