Extended Waste Ink Tanks prevents the waste pads inside the printer from filling up when changing inks. Take your time to read these instructions before proceeding with installation. If you have questions before starting contact technical support service with this contact form. Note: We have not tried this and therefore we can not provide you with good detailed pictures, so you are on your own. Let us know if the procedure works for you and if you have taken pictures we would higly appreciate if we can use them to update this documentation. | Get 1/8" vinyl tubing at a local hardware store (two 1 1/2 foot pieces), then slip over the end of the two small white tubes that pump the bulk of the ink into the waste pads when purging (not the large clear vinyl hoses). | - Removed the top and front covers of the 9000, as per changing waste recept.
- Trigger manual head latch release (under the head) and move Head out of way.
- Carefully pull the little white tubes out of the square channel that diverts them into waste pads on the Right side of machine.
- Push vinyl tubing on as far as you can--It goes on about 3/8".
- Re-route this tubing to the right of the square channel where some red wires go--and down through a slot on the right side.
- Attach a 500 cc bottle to the back of the Right leg, using Velcro at appropriate height.
- Running one fill procedure puts 250 cc's into the waste container.
- Once you open the plexiglass door and remove the black metal plate covering the area where the print heads sit (when they're idle), you'll see the black clip that releases the print head. Push the clip up, then the head will release and move left.
- Once the heads are out of the way the two white tubes are quite obvious. They're curled around through black plastic clips to keep them out of the way of the print head. They come off the cleaning pads and go down into the reservoir. If you gently pull the lower end up you'll see a few drips of ink (have an absorbent rag ready). These tubes are quite short (maybe about 4 inches max).
- The 1/8" vinyl tubes will fit snugly over the white tubing. You might want to use a tiny dab of detergent to get the white tube to slide inside the vinyl tubing. Once you've got the new tubing securely enclosing the smaller tube, it helps to use a piece of stiffer plastic (like a nylon cable tie) in the other end to guide the extended tube down past the red wires. It may take a few tries to get the tubing through the 3/8" space between the leg and the under carriage of the printer. Find a suitable quart bottle to accept the excess ink.
| - Resetting the waste ink counter (00000100 error)
Note: Use this only if you have installed the waste ink bottle. The original waste ink pads inside the machine may fill over and damage your printer if you have not done the bypassed and you need to contact your Epson Service station to change the pads. - Press these three buttons while turning on the printer; Paper Source, Paper Feed - (not +), Cut/Eject.
- The LCD panel reads : INIT. ALL=EXEC.
- Push the Paper Source button 9 times. The LCD panel reads : INIT. WA. INK=EXEC.
- Press Cut/Eject button to enter. All lights on the printer control panel will turn on then back to normal.
- Turn off the printer.
